COAG Indigenous Health Focus
A new and enduring Council of Australian Government’s Ministerial focus has been put on First Nations health, with the Indigenous Health Minister to participate in all meetings moving forward.
And a recent COAG Health Minister’s forum has endorsed the creation of an Aboriginal led Workforce Plan, with the aim of increasing the number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people working in the sector while ensuring more professionals remain on Country.
Indigenous Health Minister, Ken Wyatt, discusses these landmark developments, as well as detailing a number of significant policy initiatives to come out of the roundtable talks in Central Australia last week.
